Beautiful Bali

Bali. What can I say?!. What a beaut of a place.

We kicked things off at Nusa Dua and we stayed at the Sofitel. The hotel was quite new and they were going through some teething problems but nothing too serious. Their service was exceptional  and can't be faulted. The weather stayed on our side too as it was 95% sunshine all day long (Wohoo!). The second half of our trip was at the Sienna Villas in Seminyak, which is very different from Nusa Dua where everyone is on holiday time where as Seminyak is very active and very different to what I thought.

Overall a very active vacation but theres lots of food and ice cream to reward yourself with all the walking. For shopping, things are very cheap so go for it! I personally didn't buy too much because I probably can't use any of their summery clothes for another 6 months.

So instead of describing each experience Im going to leave you with photos of the places we went to and also the food (the good stuff) as there is alot to do in Bali and Its best to decide before you go there and plan it in such a way that you can cover 2 areas in 1 drive. And trust me when I say, don't do too many things in 1 day, it will make you hangry and no one likes a hangry person on holiday.

Clinique: Take the day off cleansing balm

I bought this cleanser after I saw a Tanya Burr Favourites video and she had highly recommended it. And she was right!

The formula is like solid coconut oil and melts in your fingers. This makes it every easy to blend into yor skin. The cleanser feels really nourishing and gets to work straight away, It can also work on waterproof make up well, so works as a one stop shop for in terms of cleansers.

You start by massaging  the balm onto your face without wetting your hands or face and work it all over. Once your done massaging just simply rinse off with warm water. It will turn into a milky consistency when wet and does leave any residue.

This was the first time I had used a balm cleanser and I can safely say it will most likely be my favourite formulation of cleanser because theres no over drying, no stretchy skin, just soft and cleansed goodness.

The tub costs $60(NZD) at the Clinique counter, and lasted me for a good 6-7 months and I used it 4/7 days (KA CHING!!), so not bad value I would say if your after a high end cleanser.

Any recommendations for alternative balm cleansers?

Recent Reads

So since I'm no longer studying, I’ve been able to find time to catch up on some reading and these books were making their rounds on YouTube, blog sites, newspapers, the whole shabang!

And after reading through them tremendously quickly, I can see what all the fuss was about.

The first one I ventured on was The Fault in Our Stars, and It was a beaut of a story. quite romantic and very real with regards to how the characters cope with their situations. My favourite thing about this book is the ending because I wasn't expecting the book to end that way but I was very happy that it did. I would highly recommend this book at anyone and is very easy to read anytime of the day.

Tina Fey can never go wrong! The book Bossypants covers alot of grounds and was very entertaining. Since each chapter covers a different situation, It is easy to pick up and continue if you stop reading (which I you won't) one in a while. The book contains a lot of funny situations and again gives you her experience in life in a very realistic light. loved it.

Last but not least, #GirlBoss. Every 20 year old girl should read this book. So brutally honest and very hard hitting with facts that are quite obvious but not until someone that same age tells you those facts. This book I found can easily guide a fresh out of Uni girl who suddenly has a fixed income coming her way and also Sophia's journey on how she is succeeding in her career path.

#GirlBoss is every similar to Tina Fey’s book, with regards to women and career choices but Sophia's journey teaches you a lot of lessons through her actions and all in all a great read.

Inspirational.

What I'm taking to Bali

In about a weeks time, I'll be making my way to beautiful Bali and I cannot wait!!, Im going with my husbands family and we will be staying there for 7 days in 2 different locationOf course there will be a lot of moving around so my best friend will be the banana boat sunscreen in SPF +50 for my body and face. During the day, make up will be a no show, since it is quite hot there at the moment, and No one likes a panda face in photos.

But for the evenings , I decided to pack minimal and keep things simple. I'm taking my Loreal true match foundation in shade D3.W3 golden beige which is very easy to blend with either brush or fingers and goes from a liquid to powder finish so no powder needed. I had tried this foundation a while ago in my teen years and It didn't work for me at all but when I repurchased it last year, I felt as if they had improved the formula and I've loved it since. It's a great everyday foundation and it gives a lovely finish without looking too matte (a girls' gotta glow you know!). I'll be taking my M.A.C bronzer in golden to bronze me up for when I need more colour  and this one isnt very shimmery at all even though you can see a bit of shimmer it in the pan.

The concealer I'll take is my M.A.C pro longwear concealer in NC30 to keep my peepers looking awake and fresh. It can double for extra coverage if need around my cheeks and any blemishes that decide not to take a holiday as well.

Hourglass ambient lighting blush in disffused heat. Need I say more?! This blush is so beautiful and very easy to wear. It provides the perfect amount of glow as well so no highlighter neccessary. When I bought this blush, the sales assistant told me it was very simialr to the Nars blush Orgasm, so if you have used tht before you will definitely like this one. I blend it in with a big fluffy natural hair brush as this will pick up less of the product and trust me a little can go a long way.
What else does a girl need?

She needs a all in one eye shadow pallete. For me it's the Bobbi Brown rich chocolate palette as it has everything. The slender pack has a few matte shades and a pinky brown shimmer for a one sweep over the lid and go shade. The dark brown matte can double as a liner so that's one less thing to worry about. For mascara, waterproof is always best and at the moment I'm really enjoying the L'oreal false lash wings. I'm getting used to the brush of this mascara as there is a technique to it, the shorter bristles are to ad volume to the inner lashes while the longer bristles add height to the outer lashes, giving you a cat eye effect.

For lips I'm keeping it quite simple and limiting it to 2 formulations but similar shades since it will mostly come of when I eat or drink and I probably won't have time to worry about what it looks like when I'll be devouring all that yummy food. My favourite nude is the M.A.C lipstick in Brave that has a satin finish and the Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in colour 205
(and a rather long name:elusive insaissable?!). Both are very easy to apply and the Revlon colour burst is slightly more pinkier.

For my nails, ill stick to my favourite which is the Essie nail varnish in Lady Like. I can wear thiws any time of the wear and will go with everything. easy peasy.

And that's it!! Very easy light make up that can be done in under 10 minutes and can easily achieve a more bolder look by  taking a red if that is what you fancy.

I will definitely put up photos of Bali with what we did and what we ate so stay tuned for the next couple of weeks, and there could be another location that I might just post up for those deciding to go on a romantic getaway (insert wink).
