Charlie & George

I know, It's been a long time!

But hey, Give a girl a break (we need time to find good places). And last Sunday, We did.

Charlie and George is located in the new sub division Stonefields ,which also houses a pretty good pub and Sunday markets. Not gona lie, its pretty dam good. We arrived around 11.30am and the place was packed packed like a jam jar (you know jam packed ha ha ha ha).

It is best to book in for that reason because since they were so busy, the wait for food was long too.
The staff were very friendly and didn't mind us changing a few things in our orders. The unique thing that I found with Charlie and George were their little homely touches, Tea cosies, bigger mugs of Mochas' and Kokako Hot Chocolates, which contrasted with more trendy fixtures, i.e terrariums on each table and mix matched chairs(very Nordic).

I decided to go for the Mushrooms on Toast, and boy, was it the right choice!! The size  of the dish was great, not too big and not too small but satisfying enough to fulfill your hangryness. The others decided on the Big Breakfast and bagels. Every plate was left empty and clean, even baby Jayden appreciated the orange slices that came with Bagels.

I wouldn't have wanted brunch any other way.

PS. they serve coconut sugar instead of normal raw sugar.

Date Night

To start of the year with a bang, my husband and I decided to go out and try something diffrerent. The idea was to go to 4 different eateries and do our own tasting menu. Here's the catch, you can't go over $100!.

It may seem possible but when you start to plan out your menu, you will have to make some tough choices. This time around I chose the places to go and what dishes to try giving the other person a chance to try things they would normally not go for.

We stayed in Britomart and started off in Taylor Street Garage followed my Cafe Hanoi, XuXu and lastly Orleans whish we made in just the nick of time before their kitchen closed for orders)

Ill leave you to the photos of what we fattened ourselves with which was actually 9 dishes! (9 DISHES), and our total came to $96, with $4 to spare woop woop!!

We didn't mind not having anything alcoholly to drink and focused on just the food but it is up to you how you would set up your menu.

I highly recommend trying this out as it does make it a fun night and a surprise for the other person who won't know where they will be going next.

Next stop Ponsonby.
